Salisbury City Council, in partnership with Wessex Community Action, are looking for a group of 12 young people, aged 14 – 17, to form a local grant making committee called the Salisbury YouthBank, and to train as young grant makers to distribute the £5000 of youth grants in March.
Participants will learn the skills required and be trained on what to look out for when assessing grant applications, through a 6 session course – three in November and three in January.
By taking on this challenge participants’ skills will be improved such as presentation, communication and interpersonal while enhancing confidence and self-esteem. The trainers will be working with these young people to enable them to:
Decide on grant criteria – how to set it, what community need etc… Publicise events, Interview applicants to find out more . Presentation skills . Understanding philanthropy . Understand issues around equality and diversity
