A Day Out at Bowood Adventure Playground

Bowood Adventure Playground

Yesterday I took my boys to Bowood House which has a fantastic adventure playground.

It has a pirate ship that can compete with the memorial gardens in Hyde Park any day and it is 50 minutes from Shaftesbury.

The boys loved the drop slide, which is practically a vertical and “totally wicked”.

We took a picnic with us and when the rain became too unbearable we headed into the indoor soft play area.

On the way home we even had time to drop into Lacock Abbey to see where Harry Potter was filmed.

Anybody else had a good day out recently? Let us know in the comments.

After getting a little lazy over the Easter break, we decided to head off for Bowood yesterday, and we weren’t disappointed! Having taken us a little longer than the 50 minutes, we finally arrived on what was a lovely sunny day. We packed a picnic and ate before we ventured into the grounds as this was what a few other families were doing and the children were ‘starving’! Although if we go again we would probably take our picnic in and go and sit by the lake, as the ‘Capability’ Brown landscaping is just spectacular, and there’s more than enough space to take a ball or two with you. The house itself is beautiful, and the children were impressed by the room where oxygen was discovered, but having said that of course the big draw for them was the adventure park. They loved it and would have happily spent all day there, and in agreement with Candice’s children the drop slide was of course totally wicked!!
