When I was a little girl I used to arrive at people’s houses and promptly ask if I could go and look round. Naturally, my mother found this rather embarrassing, but to her surprise most people were rather flattered or perhaps just shocked at this four-year-old’s interest in viewing their home.
My interest in property and other people’s houses has continued into adulthood. Luckily my husband also shares my interest and love of property. We are both frequent visitors to Prime Location and Right Move looking at houses all around the UK, and also many abroad in fabulous remote locations. We are by no means property developers and we don’t claim to be experts on the housing market – we’re just a ‘tinsy’ bit nosey and curious as to how and where other people live.
When Candice suggested featuring property in the latest issue of Country Child, I jumped at the idea. We contacted local estate agents and asked them if we could view a ‘family-friendly’ property, across different price ranges. We then spent a day viewing each house and its family appeal. Unsurprisingly, I loved all the houses I saw and could picture my family settling into all the properties we featured. However, there were a couple that particularly appealed:
The Bell House in Sutton Veny. With 7 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a lovely kitchen/family room, flat garden, views and a barn ripe for development and all for the reduced price of £830,000, I was amazed it hadn’t been snapped up earlier.
My other pick of the bunch was The Grange in Marnhull, a stunning 6 bed family house with masses of living space, swimming pool, tree house, zip wire and huge flat garden. Again, we thought this would be snapped up quickly and no sooner had we gone to print, it went under offer.
As we plan our next summer issue of Country Child we would love to feature Window Shopping again and I’m already looking forward to having a snoop around other people’s lovely homes.
So if you want us to feature your house, we’d love to hear from you.
