Floriaging is a new concept from the new Shaftesbury florist Cassandra Thompson-Jones at Fork and Flowers. Here she tells Country Child how it all came about and turned into Sunday Pudding…
“Being a full-time working Mum and running my own flower shop certainly takes a lot of planning and juggling, however there is nothing my family and I love more than our Sunday floriaging trips. Floriaging was a word we made up last year when we where out on a Sunday walk. I do love sharing the countryside with my children and keeping them interested and engaged.
I grew up on a family farm so was used to living in the country before going to London and training as a gardener at Kew. I then came home to raise my children and retrained as a florist.
Keeping my hand in with the garden, we like to grow as much as possible and forage. Sundays just wouldn’t be Sunday’s with out a crumble and with a hint of Autumn in the air we have recently collected blackberries, elderberries and windfall apples. These apples have been pieced with kebab sticks and the blackberries have been striped of thorns and made into a little edible posy, decorate and bind as you wish.
Such a lovely gift for Sunday lunches and weekends at Grannies.”
