With half term nearly over – if you have any energy left, here is our round up of what is on this weekend!
Friday: Don’t forget to take part in the ‘Wild Goose Chase’ for Shaftesbury Snowdrop festival, free entry – just pick up a form from Shaftesbury Abbey, Park Walk and return form to Snow Drop Central, 1 Bell Street. The first correct entry drawn will win a chocolate goose!
If you fancy a grown up night try Ghost Stories by candle light at Lamertree Gardens, doors open 6.30pm and performance begins 7.30. Tickets £10 in advance or £12 on the evening. Book online www.larmertree.co.uk/ghost-stories-by-candlelight/
Saturday: Shaftesbury Arts centre are showing Disney’s The Jungle book as their Children’s Film this weekend at 2.30pm.
Light Theatre are performing The Magic Beanstalk, including hand carved puppets, illusions and amazing experiments to retell this classic tale. Saturday’s performance is at Morden Village Hall (01929 459431) at 4pm and 6pm. Sunday’s performance is at The Exchange, Sturminster Newton (Tel: 01258 475137) at 3pm and 5pm. A family ticket is £20.
If you are feeling creative the British Science Association are presenting a series of free family workshops inspired by science and nature. This Saturday artist Immy Smith will be running family drawing workshops on ‘The Beauty of Fractals’. It will be held between 2 and 4pm at Aspex Gallery, Portsmouth. Sunday: The Snow drop Festival in Shaftesbury finishes with the popular lantern making workshops at 10am and 2pm at Shaftesbury Trinity Centre – booking through Shaftesbury Arts Centre or Shaftesbury Tourist Information is advised. There will be a Lantern Parade through Shaftesbury 6.15-7.15.
