Military Charity Providing Mental Well-Being Training In Dorset

Mental well-being has become much more of a less taboo subject in recent years - rightfully getting the attention it deserves within our media outlets.

Families of serving RAF personnel and veterans in Dorset who are having difficulty with their mental well-being will now be offered unique training, designed to help them identify and overcome the symptoms that may be contributing to their mental health.

The Royal Air Forces Association, the charity that supports the welfare of the RAF family, is offering mental well-being awareness training at various venues across the UK, one of which will be in Bournemouth. The initiative, named ‘Finding It Tough?’, is open to all RAF veterans and their families, plus partners, parents, siblings and children (over 18) of anyone serving in the RAF, as well as anyone working on an RAF station (e.g. MOD civil servants and defence contractors).

This exclusive training will aim to offer a helping hand and a form of resilience to those who are struggling with life’s pressures. In addition to this, it will also aim to help with their mental well-being, and point them in the direction of organisations that can provide more of a personal touch.

The continuing stigma around mental well-being issues is something which must be addressed in all walks of life. The free courses that we are offering are a vital step towards this.

These courses will help people to identify the characteristics and traits associated with poor mental well-being, so that timely and supportive action can be taken.
— Air Marshal Sir Baz North, President of the RAF Association

The training session will be delivered in Bournemouth, at the Premier Inn on Westover Road, on Tuesday 10th March.
