Snakes - A slither into a secret world

This exhibition delves into the captivating life of snakes, bringing to light their beauty, mystery and amazing natural history.  Using taxidermy, skeletal mounts and award winning photography this exhibition demonstrates the distinctive features and behaviours of these extraordinary creatures, including King Cobras, Pythons and Puff Adders.  Since appearing around 100 million years ago snakes have spread across the globe adapting to life on land and at sea.  They have always fascinated people and are part of the culture of every society.

This exhibition is family friendly and also supports the science national curriculum for schools.  Visitors will find out about snake anatomy, venom, senses, growth, and habitat, whilst having fun with some amazing interactives.

In addition to the interactives in the exhibition, family events are being organised, particularly over the Easter holidays.  These include Jonathan’s Jungle Roadshow, a snake interactive and craft activities.  More details will be available on the website soon.

Heather Ault, Exhibitions Officer, at Wiltshire Museum said ‘snake based events and craft activities will run alongside the exhibition and over the Easter holidays.  We look forward to children bringing their parents and grandparents to learn all there is to know about these amazing reptiles’.
