The Lamb – Hindon, Wiltshire.
Even on the coldest winter day, The Lamb at Hindon, with its distinctive red walls and tartan decor, feels warm and glowing.
For children they have a special “colour me in” menu. Each dish priced individually ranging from £3.25-4.50 and food ranges from favourites such as Beans on toast to Sausage and Mash. They also do a half Roast on Sunday.
They’re even happy for the family pet to join in, as long it stays in the bar where it can flop in front of a large inglenook fireplace.
The staff are incredibly helpful and didn’t bat an eyelid when asked for tomato ketchup to accompany a particularly delicious looking Roast.
There’s little in the way of outside space but inside is huge and there’s normally a chance of a table, although booking is advisable.
Vegetarians should try the butternut squash and chestnut risotto if it’s on the menu.
