Jo Leigh attends the infamous event that everyone is talking about, ‘The Vagina Dialogues’ and now has a new sense of clarity.
I first met Lis Allen, Personal Development Coach around two years ago and was hooked by her presentation to a group of networking women. Her tenacity and honesty about life as a woman was refreshing. So often you find that you have to keep up appearances when being a woman in business and her approach to just being herself was different and I wanted to know more on this alternative.
As well as being a personal coach, Lis is now becoming an ambassador for women the world over, asking them, be it Mothers, Daughters, Auntie’s, Sisters, to let go of the baggage that can so often work against you. Easier said than done. That’s why Lis now hosts events all across the UK and over the pond too with her evening of candid tales entitled ‘The Vagina Dialogues’.
Obviously the title gets you sitting up straight away, wanting to know more. Is this the event by which you are encouraged to take a closer look down under? No. Is this an event that Lis asks you to jazz up your sex life. No. Is this an event that asks you to converse and let go of all past thoughts and experience, and allow yourself the chance to be re-discovered. YES!
Leave all previous opinions at the door and learn how to deal with your demons. A problem shared is a problem halved. But why would I do this with a room full of complete strangers? You could say; Why wouldn’t you? What is the worst that can happen? You may re-discover a strength to address certain life challenges and see a pathway forward to overcoming an obstacle in your way or one from your past that you couldn’t shake.
Lis offers no guarantee that she can give you all the answers but what I can now promise you, having spent one evening with this inspirational lady is that you will come away with more than you thought you would. Like me, probably wanting more… I can certainly see where Lis has got her outlook to life and completely understand how she is proud to be the person she is. We all need to believe in this.
The Vagina Dialogues is open to all women (14 yr old girls through to 88 yr old women have attended). Due to the success of the women-only version, Lis was asked to create a male-only equivalent and so not to rest on her previous successes, Lis created her new event for men, ‘Talking Bollocks’ earlier in the year and is holding the next event shortly.
If you, a friend, colleague or relative are currently in need of some clarification on the challenges that life can throw at you, then I would thoroughly recommend an evening with Lis and her team – this would be a great way to embark on a new journey to see elements to life through new eyes.
For a thoroughly fun, thought- provoking and great night out with the girls, catch an event near you. For further information on both mens’ and womens’ events and how to book visit www.lisallen.com
