With an extra couple of days this weekend and the holidays almost upon us – read on for our round up of what’s on this Easter weekend.
Friday 25th March, Good Friday
Visit Bowood House and Gardens from this Friday to take part in an Easter Trail through the beautiful grounds, ending the trail with plenty of colouring in. Show your completed activity sheet to win a prize. Enjoy Bowood’s famous Adventure Playground and meet the new arrivals at Tractor Ted’s Little Farm. Face painting also available! No extra charge to Bowood House and Gardens normal admission.
Moors Valley Park have added two new exciting events to their already very full programme of events this holiday. Suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience, archery sessions begin on 28th March and then run on various dates until the end of August. You can book one hour slots at 9.30am, 10.30am and 4pm or just turn up between noon and 4pm on the same dates to try your hand with 10 arrows for £3.50. Hawk Walks is another new arrival at Moors Valley. On this intimate falconry experience you‘ll be able to enjoy the thrill of walking with free-flying Harris hawks (Parabuteo unicinctus), learning about these extraordinary birds and the ancient art of falconry as you recall the hawk to your fist. Led by a full-time falconer with over 30 year’s experience this is a unique opportunity to spend time with these astonishing birds which can fly at speeds of up to 50 miles an hour. Brewery Square Easter Egg Hunt begins today until 28th March, in Dorchester 10am – 4pm.
Jolly Babies Charlton Down are hosting their Easter Party at Harrison Hall, Dorchester. With music, song and dance followed by refreshments, play and a small gift for baby. See their Facebook page for details.
Saturday 26th March
Marwell Zoo have a Wild Egg Hunt over this weekend, meet the Easter Bunny in his burrow and show your completed trail to enjoy a FREE chocolate egg. You can also meet the Egg-sperts, meet members of the bird team, ask them your questions about birds as they scatter feed the birds in our aviary each day at 2.45pm. Take your camera and take a photo of their brilliant birds to enter into their Big bird photo competition and get your little chicks faces painted with some Easter face painting fun.
Finley Down Farm Easter Eggstravaganza is on from this weekend till April 10th. A great time to visit with so many baby animals to see, lambs, micro pigs, calves, chicks and baby rabbits. See their website have a fun packed day of animal activities throughout the day. Look out for the Mad Hatter and the Easter Bunny who will be appearing each day. Join in the Easter Egg Hunts and follow the Easter Trail to win a prize. Don’t forget the indoor play barn. Sheep Racing and Pony Rides take place every day.
The Berry Theatre are running Saturday Story times this Saturday and next. Suitable for ages 3-7 and their families. Musical storytellers whisk you off to faraway lands with their enchanting tales, silly songs and lively games; a forest full in 45 minutes! Each session ends with interactive play time, where everyone becomes part of the story.
Sunday 27th March Easter Sunday
Lulworth Castle have Easter events on this weekend with egg hunts, quizzes and trails. Meet their Easter Bunny and the adorable Lulworth Lambs. Activities also include soft play, bunny challenge, junior bouncy castle, lawn games, explore the castle, climb the tower and Easter craft table.
Kilver Court Designer Shopping Village in Somerset will this month host the Robert James Workshop collection of storybook themed sculptures in their public gardens between this saturday and april 6th. There are well loved characters from carved from bronze like Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. So you can do some story book character visiting and then some shopping! Perfect!
