Godolphin’s GO Parent: Talking Mental Health and Wellbeing Conference

In recent years, the notion of mental health has become an increasingly popular topic of discussion; both within the news media and the public domain. The somewhat negative stigma that was attached to mental health has declined, with a multitude of celebrity figures choosing to break down the barriers surrounding it. One area within which discourse regarding mental health is increasing, is in that of teenagers and young children.

On Wednesday 6th November, Godolphin School in Salisbury hosted their first GO Parent conference, talking Mental Health and Wellbeing, in collaboration with the Magna Learning Partnership. Deputy Head Pastoral, Jenny Price, sought the expertise of professionals from the industry with real, up to date and pertinent messages on a wide range of subjects. The programme offered a formidable array of knowledge and some hard-hitting messages, which were brilliantly delivered on the day by nine speakers.

Deputy Head Pastoral, Jenny Price, said ‘the message was one of ‘let’s talk’ and bring these topics to the forefront with several of our speakers talking about their own journeys and recovery.’ We need the support of our parents and by inviting them to join us for a day dedicated to mental health, we can learn side by side, how to best support our young people.

It was inspiring and indeed quite an emotional day…this generation of children are overburdened so any tips we can pick up along the way to inspire us and give us hope to help them are so appreciated.
